One Of 2 Things...

...is going to happen.  I will either be retiring from the blogging world, or creating an all new low key blogging I.D.

Merry Christmas!

15 Thoughts

1. I love our house. Love, love, love.  Sometimes I walk around and think, "I'm 20 years old and have a house."  We're blessed.

2. It is snowing like mad right now, pretty much hoping that cos is canceled tmw... never mind, I'm not going regardless.

3. I realized how naive I have been my whole life basically.  I'm now trying to decipher the difference of being nice and being treated inappropriately.

4. It is so weird how sometimes online I will see a picture [of a stranger] and they look exactly like me.  Freaky.

5. My mom is such a sweetie.  I see a lot of her in myself, as the days go by.

6. These look amazing, I am putting every ingredient on my shopping list.

7. I had a really fun [small] girls night at my place with a couple ladies from school Friday night, it was nice to hang out and laugh in my freezing house.

8. I gave Mike a haircut Thursday night, let's just say.... its quite the story.

9. I have done ZERO Christmas shopping yet.  I really wish Christmas didn't involve gifts.

10. My cat peed on his liter bag Friday morning.  He retaliates if we don't change his liter box often enough to his likings.

11. Did I mention I'm getting a new couch and love seat? Long story short, it is a belated wedding gift and the most comfortable furniture I have ever sat on.

 12. Tetris needs to get declawed.

13. Top 5 favorite restaurants:  Fiesta Rancheras, Taco Bell, Cracker Barrell, Buffalo Wild Wings, Chinese restaurant in Toledo that serves you in courses. YUMM

14. I heart my electric blanket.

15. I want this piercing in my future.

The beginning of a new tradition

Among the plastic Tupperware crates [that my Mamogram has stored in our upstairs/attic] are our family Christmas decorations.  Everything; ie. outdoor manger scene, Christmas tree, wreaths, scary Santas, homemade decorations etc etc etc.

With being married, I wanted to start family traditions.  The first one was decorating for Christmas the weekend after Thanksgiving.  I felt like a Mom asking Mike if he was all ready to start decorating.  We quickly realized that as children, we both dreaded putting up the Christmas tree.

The first 20 minutes of putting up the tree were terrible.  We weren't listening to Christmas music, but the singer P!nk, instead.  That wasn't the terrible part, though.  Mike was rushing through putting the branches in the slots, wherever they 'looked like they went'.  Needless to say the G and D and K branches........ were all intertwined.

Then there was the dilemma of ornaments.  Do I just adopt ALL of these ornaments that used to hang from the Grove Christmas tree(s)?  Many of which I have no recollection where they came from, who made the Make-and-Take Styrofoam cup bell, or pop sickle stick stars.  Do we go out and buy all new ornaments for our 'new' tree?

Mike was getting annoyed, as was I.  Then he had an idea...to make the ugliest Christmas tree possible.  I was not keen--at all really.  Then idea #2...every year we each put on ONE new ornament, (yes that means our Christmas tree has only two ornaments on it)  it could be one that we were given as a gift, handmade, an ornament from the many tubs of Grove family ornaments, or one new from the store.  Each Christmas we will add our choice of ornament, along with the previous years.  ie. This year our tree will have 2 ornaments, next year 4, next year 6 etc etc etc.  Then when we have kids, they can have fun picking which ornament they want to be theirs for that year.  We then put the persons' name and year that they put that ornament on the tree.

Beacuse of the new Heinz family tradition, Christmas set up was a breeze, it was fun, memorable and everytime we look at our measly decorated tree we can't help to laugh.

Christmas tree.  Notice the visible stem.

Mike's 2010 chosen ornament.  Notice that you can barely see the reindeer in above picture (upper left diagonal to my ornament.  See a small trace of it's red bow?)

My 2010 chosen ornament, Mr. Abe Lincoln.  He has a light over his head and plays 'America The Beautiful' at a touch of a button, or when the tree is plugged in.

Living room decorated for Christmas.  Mistletoe, Poinsettia garland on windows and mirrors on right side of pic, somewhat scary Santa on top of entertainment center.

 Garland mirrors.

From a long lost blogger

I haven't blogged in forever, one month and a day ago to be exact and that blog wasn't much of a blog anyways.  I have stuff I could catch you all up on, but that will have to wait for a future blog.

One evening after waking up at 6PM from a short snooze during Oprah (I'm sooo "old") I was in a major daze.  After attempting to study for an upcoming test, I felt like I needed to read some of my devotionals that I have been MAJORLY slacking on reading.

I wanted to share this with you all.  Try not to just read it, but to digest it.  Read each sentence, take it in and apply it to your own life.

Devotional: ENDING YOUR DAY RIGHT
Author: Joyce Meyer
(I love this devotional, each page is short enough to avoid avoiding.  I often find that when I really need to hear God, he speaks to me through this book.)
Page:323
Date of daily devotional: November 18
Title of page: Discover the Cure for the Insecure.

"The world is full of insecure people.  In fact an article I once read described insecurity as a psychological disturbance of epidemic proportions.  So is there a cure for the insecure?
The answer is yes.  The word of God says that you can be secure through Jesus Christ.  As a believer, you will find our Lord Jesus Christ is the only lasting cure for the insecurity.  He took all of your insecurities upon himself at Calvary.  His death and resurrection purchased your freedom from the pain and behavior patterns produced by a lifetime of insecurity.
All the areas of your life that are out of order can be reconciled through Jesus and the work He accomplished on the cross.  Start believing--and remember: "The Lord your God is with you wherever you go" (Joshua 1:9)"
