My sister Katie has been putting together a wedding website and asked me to type up a little ditty about why I like/love Mike.
Here's a copy & paste of what I wrote:
What do I like about Mike? What do I love about Mike? Where do I even begin? I believe everything happens for a reason, and that should be Mike and I's relationship motto. We have been though so much over the past 4 years. The fact that we can still look each other in the eye, proves that our relationship is strong. We have learned forgiveness, understanding and the mere fact that in a relationship you must compromise. We are both very stubborn people, which until recently, I have learned to not be as one sided, it isn't all about me. With that said, I appreciate Mike's ability to put up with me! I love that he genuinely cares about me. I think I have tested that water many many many times subconsciously seeing if he did care. I was always the type to push people away from me, it was my way of self protection.
I love Mike for not leaving, for putting his foot down and fighting for us even when I was ready to run far far away. It wasn't until I had done enough subconscious 'tests' of his love (as terrible as that sounds) that I could come to a point of a 5 letter word that has been something I had issues with since I was little---TRUST. It was at this point that I was positive that I could marry Mike. I'm not saying anything against him. It was until I could realize that I genuinely had a guy who would fight for our love every time, could I take my guard down on my heart and be the girlfriend I should be. I now fight for our love every time.
I love that Mike appreciates my sense of humor. He puts up with me when I try to gross him out! I love that all we need to have fun is the presence of one another. We laugh and joke and are just plain silly and weird. I love that he is one of the few people that I can by my c-o-m-p-l-e-t-e self with. I can tell him things that I couldn't tell others. I know I've found something special when I have no guard up. Mike is my 'something special'.
I love the smirk Mike gets when he looks at me. That look in his eyes that a person can't fake. The way we have 'no-smiling' contests whether it be 5 feet from one another or 500 miles (webcamming.)
I love the meals we share together and how we both HATE mustard. I love how we agree that pancakes don't ever sound good.
I love the pistachio bread we eat, the Fiesta Rancheras, the Buffalo Wild Wings, The Sterlings large pepperoni pizzas, the Taco Bell, the white Mexican cheese dip we make together and devour, the $1 sloppy joe mix we buy and make, the sandwiches HE makes ME!, the philly cheese steak subs we doctor up with various cheeses and occasionally bacon, the fact that I am always hungry and he never is when I am!
I like the cologne he wears, when he wears a white shirt or any blue shirt, the black coat his mom recently bought him. I like that we use the same kind of toothpaste, that will make grocery shopping much easier ;)
I even love my pet peeves about him. Such as taking off his boots when he enters a house, ornot wearing a seat belt at all times (he's working on this), or scraping his teeth on his fork. I do not love when he makes his eyes look all crazy, that will ALWAYS freak me out!
I love when we say "don't talk to me" ((D.T.T.M)) (imagine in a sarcastic voice with a smiling face) to each other ALL OF THE TIME. We say it so much that I get annoyed of it.
I love how smart he is. He is literally the smartest person I know and he never fails to spread the knowledge along the way. Even when I was 4 years old I have been curious. My mom and dad used to call me "Question Girl" because I would literally start asking a question and then another and then another and then another....
Who better for me to end up with than someone to answer all of "Question Girl's" curiosities that construe in this never resting mind of mine.
I love the shared frugality we have, although our frugality is certainly different I think they compliment each other well. I love our efficiency and our skills of earning money while knowing how to save it. Money isn't everything but the fact that we are starting out with good habits, will be a major help and [hopeful] stress avoid-er in our relationship.
I love how well Mike gets along with my family. It's like he has been a member of the Grove clan before the knot has even been tied.
I love and so greatly appreciate God's plan to keep me home fall semester from Northern. This decision was nothing short of a plan for blessing and fulfillment for my life. God gave me the opportunity to get to know Michael's mom and Aunt Julie better through the opportunity of babysitting. I am so thankful for the opportunity! I love the laughs, spins, twirls, jumps, golfcart rides, Aunt Bev visits, running with Sparky and Katie, visits to Poopy Penny, "run run run", "wah-wah-wah-wee", and "doo-bee-doo-bee-doooooo"s that I've shared with his cousin Lillian.
I appreciate getting to spend time around his grandparent's home over the years. I am so grateful for everything Grandma and Grandpa Snyr have done for me. I am so excited to continue to get to know Mom, Dad, Laura and David along with all of the aunts, uncles and cousins. I love the people that are soon to become my family.
I could go on and on about how I feel about Mike and how he makes me feel as a person.
I would like to end this with thanking God for blessing me with the most wonderful man for me. Mike is absolutely perfect for me. Things have never been easy but God doesn't make mistakes and He knew what He was doing every second in this whole journey.
Mike started as a friend, became a crush, became a boyfriend, then an ex, then a boyfriend, now a fiance and I am ecstatic to have he become a husband.
I love you Michael "W." Heinz!
