Yup, I enrolled at Beauty School. I did.
My original plan was to take this year off. Chill at home, do the dishes, sweep the floors, babysit, do some laundry, play some Tetris on the N64. Then my mom told me that if I didn't go back I was going to lose a $cholar$hip. Some more $$ details were involved. But to sum it up, I am going to school for next to nothing. I'm so blessed. So excited.
I have wanted to do hair since I was probably 7. And was even considering going to beauty school a year ago. My uncertainties and insecurities of the matter along with the profession being belittled and discouraged by an older gentleman... was enough for me to go back to 'college' and try to find my calling. So two years of Northern and JCC.... and here I am.
I was always worried that I'd do a girl's hair and she'd act like she liked it, and then go home and cry about how bad she h.a.t.e.s it... We all have those friends that literally never like their new hairstyle.
Well, I talked to the girl [Holly] who was doing my wedding hair, and she explained that--that's what school and training are for. Plus you ask a lot of questions before you start chopping away.
Then there was the fact that my lower back hurts sometimes when I'm standing for a long time. Welp, that's what back massages and cracking my back are for.
Problems solved.
I start September 20th.
Congrats on the start of your new career pursuits! So, when does Kelsey's Kuts and Koiffs open for business? :)
