Yesterday is the day we adopted our first "child". A little boy. Like I had said in earlier posts, we have been wanting a kitten. This is how it all played out:
I was babysitting Jack (3 years old) and I told him we were going to get a cat soon. For some unknown reason he told me he was going to sneak over to my house and kill it! Wellllll then..... that calls for a time out! I filled Kyle in on the time out incident, and from then on Kyle and Sara knew that we were open to adopt a cat/kitten.
Well,
God is great, I'm tellin' ya! Debbie (co-worker at camp to Kyle and Sara) had picked up a 12 week old kitten that had been playing in 127. They were looking for a new home for the little guy and asked me if we were still looking.
Yesterday evening at 5:15 we went to camp, checked him out and fell in love with him. He is sooooo playful and was throwing a little puff ball all around on our adoption visit. It is also amazing because when Mike lived at his Grandparent's house (before we got married) he basically raised their cat Beast...who in fact looks almost identical to our new kitten.
We also wanted a male cat, to avoid messy heat and all that crap.
We brought the little guy home and man did he have fun exploring my car. He went from Mike's lap, to my lap, to the feet of Mike, to my feet, to the back seat, back front, all in the 6 or 7 minute drive. When we arrived at the house he e.x.p.l.o.r.e.d! Sniffed everything, went room to room, went in the basement, went upstairs.... etc. I introduced him to his new Family Dollar toys (I went on a new cat shopping spree there today) and he loves both of them... a furry ferret and a stick with feathers and beads on the end. He is getting some more cat toys soon, it's great having a cat that actually plays with them!
He's already tooted in my face, and I was utterly grossed out by that! He's using the litter box like a pro (Family Dollar) and even tending to his food/water dish in the laundry room.
We don't have a name for him right now. Debbie named him Cooper, but for some reason I just want to call him Wiener. He'll get a more appropriate name very soon.
He slept with us last night and we had to hide our hands from him after awhile. He kept sticking his head under our hands, and walking right over me and next to my face.
Mike loves him and keeps saying stuff like; "You're such a good kitty." He also informed me that the cat is going to like him more because he has been petting him more. Well....we will see!
The kitty has been walking on my laptop keyboard when I'm on the internet. He has already typed "weeese" and " 'oil34657.net"<--- or something similar.
Such a good kitty.
